Spring Trends 2011
Colors are back!!
Forget any shade that is dusty or muted. Spring is all about the-bolder-the-better brights. But what really sets these colors aglow are the unexpected combinations: pink, orange, and deep purple; turquoise and taxi cab yellow; lime and emerald green. It̢۪s this palette of knockout hues that creates such a range of riveting contrasts.
This season dresses, and skirts will remain must haves... But this season fashion designer's have also given us all kind of fun fashions, fashions that will offer wonderful vivid prints, stripes, and geometric prints... The main theme this spring is somewhat tailored, and classic, but with a touch of bold, and edgy.
I'd summarize the main looks this spring summer season as...
  • Floaty and feminine
  • Quirky and fun
  • Bold colors
  • The color that jumps out at the head of the line for spring is orange! Less face it there is no other color that can make a loud fashion statement as orange. So need a new dress? Make it an orange.
Dresses
Dress silhouettes include: rectangle shifts and boxy shapes; hourglass sheaths and 50s styles; floaty, subtle A-line styles. Lengths are all over the place! Mainly still around knee length or above or floor-sweeping maxi lengths. However, midi lengths are also returning.
Maxi styles include floaty fuller skirted styles and straight skirt styles with a thigh high split. Shoulder styles are still around. As are tiered ruffles or ruffles on sleeves and necklines.

Skirts
There is more choice in skirt shapes and lengths this season. Lengths follow the dress length trends. There are still straight knee length styles around and shorter, fuller, skater skirt styles. Maxi lengths include full and subtle A-line styles. And there are a now more midi skirts available, in keeping with the feminine theme, mainly in subtle A-line styles. Fine pleats are also making a come back in midi and knee length styles.

Pants, Trousers and Shorts
The main trend this season is for fuller, wider styles reminiscent of the 70s. This includes flares or bell bottoms and palazzo pants. Widths also include straight wider leg styles not as full as the palazzo -- this style is more flattering for most people. And the return of boot cut jeans -- which will be welcome by many! Choices in slimmer styles include tapered styles either in jean style materials or in soft, drapey silks.
Shorts are still very short. The micro trend of pant suits (full length legs) and play suits (short legs) is still with us. And dungarees are also in evidence.

Jackets
A jackets is still a great layering option with many styles around including: biker; blazer; DJ. Jackets also have the advantage of adding authority in work situations and dressing up a casual outfit.A new trend includes sleeveless jackets -- use in place of a waistcoat.

That '70s Show
Spring's most fun trend? A fresh update on the Solid Gold and Studio 54 decade: the '70s. Halter and peasant tops, floppy hats, chunky platforms, high waisted wide leg jeans and halter dresses are just some of the disco-era clothes making a comeback.
Stripes
Whether sporty and nautical or bold and bright, colorful stripes appeared on everything from clothing to accessories this season. Often seen mixed with a contrasting print, spring stripes have a playful and fun feel to them.
Gold and Silver
Take a shine to silver and gold this season with spring's metallic trend. Whether you opt for a well-placed accessory or go for a shiny piece of clothing, you'll be golden.

Get It White
In stark contrast to the bright colors that are taking over spring, a number of all-white looks strolled down the 2011 runways. Whether you choose to wear white head to toe or to mix it in with a bright piece, this crisp, refreshing look is always worth adding to your wardrobe.

Wild and Charming Prints
This season's prints are loud and proud, ranging from bold geometrics and vibrant abstract patterns to tribal-inspired and animal prints. Many designers expertly mixed prints together, but adding just one printed piece to your look works just as well.Though always in style as far as we're concerned, it's still nice to see animal prints walk the runway for so many seasons in a row. Proving to be well worth the investment, every woman should own something leopard and python printed, even if it's just an accessory.
